Hershey

This is Hershey! He was named by Kay Petal from Felt Alive after I requested name suggestions for him when I had a mental blank. He's a 5 way thread jointed bear made with Corriedale and Merino wool. He has german glass eyes and mohair eyelashes.

I'm currently working on another bear who should be making her appearance within the next day or so.

My latest!

This lovely girl is my latest piece of needle felt work. She's based off the bunny that won the award at the Royal Adelaide Show. I intend to do more bunnies in the same design. This one I decided to call "Melody" and she's already been sold and is on her way to live in the USA.

I'm currently working on a brown bear. He'll be 5 way thread jointed. It's been a while since i've thread jointed any of my work so i'm making a few adjustments to him at the moment. He should be finished within the next day or so. I'm looking forward to showing him off. I tend to do a lot of "cartoon" looking critters but this one is a little more realistic looking in the face. Stay tuned to see what the finished product looks like!

I'm still here!

It's been a while since i've updated my blog. Since my last entry here i've officially become an award winning needle felter. I entered 4 pieces into the Royal Adelaide Show and as you can see in the above picture, one of my pieces one the much sought after first prize blue ribbon! I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled I was about this.

When I went to collect my 4 critters from the show, one of the organisers asked me if I took lessons in needle felting. When I told her I was self taught and had been doing needle felting for 6 months, her jaw nearly hit the floor and said "You're BRILLIANT!".

I still think i've got a lot of learning and improving to do but those 2 words meant a lot to me.

As for my current needle felting project, i'm working on a grey rabbit. I should have him finished in the next couple of days. Shortly I want to start working on creating a needle felting kit and as always I have a TON of cute critters just waiting to break out of my imagination and into some wool.

So much to do...so little time! ;)

Welcome to the AussieFelts Blog!

Blogging seems to be the way to go when you want to keep people updated on what you are doing with your latest project. I've actually been blogging for over 6 years on another journal website but i've decided to start with a fresh blog here that will be purely dedicated to my Needle Felting thoughts and ideas.

Bear with me while I get settled in here and it won't be long before i'm keeping you all updated on my latest creations. :)

Have a great day!
